This is a stroll down memory lane. Years ago, we had the MPPC, the Motion Picture Prop Company, which was the prop and movie site of Lee Malone.
Sadly, the original database was lost, and the site was later relaunched as the Motion Picture Prop Community. Both had associated forums, and both are now lost to us.
The latter incarnation I was a keen member of but sadly it was ultimately beset with issues that led to its closure; even though it was not, it was repeatedly flagged as a phishing site. In the end the once active membership dwindled to less than 20 active members and, due to the problems accessing the site, we eventually took our discussions to emails and off-site contact.
Before it was gone, both versions of the sites had a great Fett focus both in articles and in the forum section. Some of your current TDH and BFB members were once active there.
One thing I had really enjoyed of the first incarnation were a series of [brutally frank] Fett helmet reviews by former TDH member ‘Singleseat’. All of these reviews predated Art’s Grant McCune articles, and the subsequent casts that were offered from his GM helmet – the GMH, from late 2010.
Of course, that means they also predate the two FPH2 versions, although those helmets were discussed ad infinitum in the forum pages of the latter MPPC, however; I have expressed my views on those helmets in considerable detail across multiple pages. Those posts cover most of our collective views on those helmets as well as some that are peculiar to me.
Before the forum finally died, I asked Chris ‘Singleseat’ if he still had his old articles, but he said he could not find them, which was a shame. I was sure I had banked them all away on the Wayback Machine, but I could not find them either.
Anyway, I think I have finally found them all except for an introductory article in which he outlined his intentions with regards to how he was going to conduct his reviews, i.e., brutally frank.
Sadly, the images within the articles are no more but that is not an insurmountable issue for someone willing to put in the time to research the individual helmets, and there are still plenty of stills out there.
Anyway, the site is long gone, but I am sure that you’ll be able to find lots of links that will still work.
Thanks Lee and Chris……….
